June is African American Music Appreciation Month- a time to reflect and celebrate the musical contributions of the African American community throughout U.S. history. Here at EPMG, we not only celebrate the diversity of our nation, but the significant contributions that the African American community has made on the fabric of our nation’s history.
To quote President Obama’s presidential proclamation, “Music can tell a story, assuage our sorrows, provide blessing and redemption, and express a soul’s sublime and powerful beauty. It inspires us daily, giving voice to the human spirit. For many, including the African-American community, music unites individuals through a shared heritage. During African-American Music Appreciation Month, we celebrate the extraordinary legacy of African-American singers, composers, and musicians, as well as their indelible contributions to our Nation and our world.”
EPMG celebrates and honors the innovators, creators, and boundary breakers who gave inspiration and opportunity to so many talented performers of today. We thank them not only for so many of our favorite songs, but for the hardships endured in order to create them. We want to share one of our favorites… Mercy Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye. You can share one of your favorites with us below…
